Not to mention, we also have weekender bags that are the perfect carry-on for those who prefer to travel with a duffle bag. Carry-on luggage is the perfect add-on to your large checked luggage, allowing you to pack enough for your trip with ease.

What is considered a carry-on?

A carry-on is any piece of luggage that you can carry onto the plane that fits within the airline restrictions. It is highly recommended that you check with your specific airline, as different airlines may have different restrictions. A carry-on can include a lot of different luggage items including suitcases, duffle bags and large backpacks. It is important to note that a carry-on is different to a personal item – your personal item will be smaller than your carry-on. Some examples of personal items include a handbag, garment sleeve, laptop sleeve or small backpack.

Our Luna-Air Carry-On and Arlo Pro Carry-On suitcases are designed to be used as carry-on luggage, perfect for popping under your seat or in the overhead cabin. They should fit within most airline guidelines, however we would still recommend double checking with your airline provider.

Both the Luna-Air and Arlo Pro Carry-On’s feature an integrated USB charging port, allowing you to keep your devices charged on the go. They also feature TSA locks for security, as well as recessed wheels to make them compact and more stable. The multidirectional wheels and the adjustable telescopic handle makes manoeuvring around the airport a breeze, whilst the top grab handle allows for easy carry. They are perfect for 2-4 day trips, with impressive interior organisational features. With two zippered central dividers, plus two sets of compression straps, all your belongings can stay in place as you travel. Pair you carry-on luggage with a set of packing cubes and you’ll be packing like a pro!

How do you use a carry-on?

If you need some extra guidance on how to pack a carry-on, we have got you covered. As carry-on’s are rather small, it is important to learn how to use the space wisely. Thankfully, our Luna-Air and Arlo Pro suitcases have great interior features to make organising a breeze. With interior compression straps on both sides, you can easily hold your belongings in place neatly as you travel. The two central divider panels provide you with a level of separation, keeping one side of belongings separate from the other. You’ll also discover zippered interior pockets, perfect for housing small essentials or chargers.

If you struggle with packing a carry-on, it is worth investing in a packing cube set.At Explorer Luggage, we have packing cube sets tailored to your Luna-Air or Arlo Pro carry-on. This set is called the Carry-On Packing Cube Set and contains a large rectangular packing cube, a medium rectangular packing cube and a small square packing cube. These cubes will fit perfectly in one half of your carry-on. If you are looking for ways to save space in your carry-on, make sure to utilise every gap available. For instance, if you are packing shoes, make sure to use the space within your shoes for small bits and pieces. It might also pay to roll your clothes instead of folding them to save more space.

Does carry-on mean overhead?

A carry-on can be classed as an overhead bag if it is able to fit in the airlines overhead cabin. However, it can also still be classified as a carry-on if it doesn’t fit in the overhead and has to go under the front seat instead. As long as it is within airline restrictions, you’ll be golden.

Is a backpack a carry-on?

A backpack can be classified as a carry-on, depending on the size! Like carry-on suitcases, this backpack will have to be within airline restrictions. Some people prefer to travel with a large travel backpack – which is totally fine. Just make sure to check with the airline first.

If you wanted a backpack that will fit into your carry-on, we’d highly recommend a packable backpack. It folds away into itself, making it extremely compact to pack into your suitcase. Once you get to your destination, you’ll have a fully functional daypack as well as a carry-on suitcase.
